Georgian Bay Township CAO Greg Mariotti is looking for issues/examples for those dealing with floating accommodations.

"Three local municipalities met with Minister Graydon Smith at ROMA to update him on the safety and environmental issues some communities are facing with floating accommodations. Transport Canada classifies these floating sea cans as “vessels”, instead of “floating accommodations”, like the Province does.  As such, they can by-pass municipal and provincial jurisdictions. Minister Smith asked the delegation to let him know how far this issue is spreading across the province."

Please either email Greg directly or respond on our Message Board.

Skipperisms

My favourite dog park includes a long leash free trail through the York Regional Forest. It's great because I am empowered to run as fast as I want, to stop wherever I want, and to explore freely. Sometimes I find treasures.

As leaders of staff, you have the capacity to empower your employees and to unlock the potential within each employee.

Empowering employees means treating them as ends in themselves, acknowledging their intrinsic value. Immanuel Kant said, "Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of any other, never merely as a means to an end, but always at the same time as an end." This approach instills a sense of purpose and motivation, as individuals find fulfillment in their contributions to the organization's goals.

Empowering employees involves aligning their roles with their strengths and passions. When individuals are allowed to pursue their interests and are recognized for their contributions, job satisfaction increases, leading to higher employee retention rates. As Confucius noted, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."
