Skipperisms

Hey there friends. I've been deep in thought this week about a whopper of a lie we've all been fed: multitasking. You know the drill - answering emails while burning breakfast, folding laundry during conference calls, chasing squirrels while peeing. Turns out, friends, this juggling act is a recipe for mediocrity, not mastery.

A study published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance found that switching between tasks actually reduces your productivity and increases the time it takes to complete each one. Why? Our brains aren't designed to excel at multiple things at once. When we multitask, we're essentially forcing our brains to rapidly switch contexts, leading to errors and wasted cognitive resources.

Think of it like this: Imagine your brain is a web browser with dozens of tabs open. Switching between tabs constantly takes time and slows down the entire system. Instead, try focusing on one tab at a time – one task at a time.

So ditch the delusion of superhuman productivity. Focus on one thing at a time to be fully present.
