Michael DiLullo is OMAA’s Second VP and CAO of The Municipality of Middlesex Centre. How long have you been a member of OMAA? 6 years What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know? I've taken flying lessons and have almost half of the required hours for my recreational license. What’s one thing — either industry-related or not — you learned in the last month?
We recently had a tour for staff/council visiting many sites across the municipality and was neat to see new equipment in operations and the technology that they are equipped with. Why did you become a CAO? The opportunity to make a difference in community and see decisions come to fruition is fulfilling.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment? One of the proudest accomplishments was successfully running my first City Election (have been a Returning Officer for three elections). Another would be teaching at Conestoga College – something out of my element but a great experience to teach and talk about Government and Politics to students.
Do you have a book recommendation? The Real Deal by Faisal Susiwala. It's a fantastic story of perseverance as he shares how his family lost their home, how he saved himself from bankruptcy, and his terrifying experience at the World Trade Center on 9/11. He also shares his blueprint for maximum success in the real estate market.
What’s the next place on your travel bucket list? Greece and the eastern Mediterranean What’s one item you can’t live without? Nutella |

| Last week was tough. My whole family was far away and I was by myself a lot.
But then I remembered that Camus said "in order to understand the world, one has to turn away from it on occasion." So I put my mind to not being lonely but to enjoy the solitude. Solitude withdraws the external objects, demands and tasks crowding our days. It was nice to retreat to the "inner citadel" for a while to reconnect with myself and to see the bigger picture. It is good to take a time out once in a while. Life is short...especially if you measure it in dog years... |
