Key responsibilities include:
• Providing leadership and direction to the Township’s administration and senior management team
• Supporting Council in the development and implementation of policies, priorities, and strategic initiatives
• Ensuring Council decisions, programs, and services are implemented efficiently and effectively
• Coordinating the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets and monitoring financial performance
• Overseeing organizational structure, staffing, and performance management of senior staff
• Ensuring compliance with municipal legislation, policies, and regulatory requirements
• Acting as the liaison between Council and Administration to ensure clear communication and accountability
• Working with government partners, community organizations, and the public on municipal initiatives and services
The Chief Administrative Officer plays a key role in guiding the long term direction of the Township and ensuring the organization operates efficiently, responsibly, and in the best interest of the community.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
• University degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Seven to ten years of progressively responsible senior leadership experience in a complex organization with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience in municipal government or the broader public sector is considered an asset.
Knowledge and Skills
• Strong understanding of municipal government operations, governance, and financing.
• Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of Council and senior municipal staff.
• Familiarity with provincial legislation and regulations that affect municipal operations.
Leadership and Professional Skills
• Proven leadership ability with experience leading and mentoring senior staff.
• Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with Council, staff, government partners, and the public.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
• Ability to support a workplace culture focused on teamwork, respect, and accountability.
Assets
• Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of the South Glengarry area, the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, and Eastern Ontario is considered beneficial.
